LUMIA 710

LUMIA 800

Finally, a break from seeing the classic Nokia N-series drfting here and there. The Nokia Lumia is a Windows smartphone perhaps for Nokia fans reluctant to switch loyalty to the Apple or Android smartphones.

IMO, I find the 710 more appealing than 800. Firstly, its shape differs from the typical pointed rectangular shapes you can see everyday in smartphones. Next, it’s whiteeeee!! White iPhones usually take ages to hit the market. (My Nokia N97 was white, too.) Feels so unique.

800 reminds me of the iPod Touch 4G, plus a blue photo frame.

Nokia versus the smartphone giants (Apple, Samsung, Sony)

What I like about Nokia (not Symbian, hated how its system lagged for me after 1.5 years of usage) is its widgets. Apple has 0 widgets. Only a pull-down menu that may have been copied from Android, and pop-ups. Android has widgets, but they don’t load all the time if you’re low on memory (RAM) and they take up too much space. Not all widgets are compatible on Android, too, depending on the version you are using.

Nokia’s widgets have character, and you can customize them to look the way you want. Background of your own, and notifications without messing up your ”personal space’. Bye-bye Symbian, hello Winokia. Which, however, was somewhat unexpected for me.. Windows on Nokia.!

new

It’s back to school again in a new semester.. Quite frustrating, indeed, with the ”unsureness” of whether i flunked one of the modules last semester and also with the stressfulness of final-year presentation.

Mr.Z is getting married soon, the first step is matchmaking, an action I always found to be very traditional and unrealistic in modern-day society.

And I’m happy for him….

It’s been some time since I last posted. A lot of stuff has been floating in my mind. I realized Mr.Z and I were more suitable as friends, and that in fact, I don’t need a second half at all, just a companion. Then I got to know a new circle of friends and lots of things changed. Sometimes, I feel that I really dread studying. I feel my head’s full of stuff when I study. So I like to hang out with my new friend, P. I think he’s really funny sometimes ‘coz he’s a newbie to English. I always laugh when he self-introduces himself. And I force him to talk in English to the cashiers when we’re out shopping. And I have a completely new wardrobe now… When I look at my old photos on Facebook, it seems the old me and new me are worlds apart, though there’s no significant age difference.. .

it’s me!

it's me!

Indian foodstall dominated by Chinese customers at Serangoon. So, is English the universal passcode to making orders?

aka On Stranger Tides

I’m glad Depp is back (minus Keira and co.) on the set. And gladder still to see that “4″ gives him a love story of his own. A lethal love interest, who is discovered to be the daughter of a deadlier pirate “king”. And hello to Barbossa, minus one leg, the most annoying character IMO from the 3 previous movies. As usual, they make the best out of their “partnership”, always portrayed as rivals.

Bye Bye, Black Pearl and hello, Miniature Pearl. = Ship in the bottle.

Simply found the whole movie hilarious..

Competitive rivalry matches!!

Nice Chemistry!!

Mermaids: No, it’s not Ariel and her sisters. Mermaids are gorgeous looking creatures with tails and ability to transform to feet out of water, but at the same time, they are vampiric.. well, they bite and kill. Maybe Ariel was conceived from a sea nymph instead, as it is in the game “Tradewinds Odyssey“, where “Ariel” is the daughter of the Greek sea god. Everything is similar to Ariel’s story except she doesn’t end up with the prince in the end. Anyway the man in picture is a priest or pastor.

Happy watching! Be prepared for absolute humor!! Abs 4.5/5!!

What’s the last time I went to the cinema? 11TH March? Watched RED RIDING HOOD on 11th March and SUCKER PUNCH on 27th March. That’s two movies in one month, HeHEeeHhehehe..

Red Riding Hood is a love story and based on the mystery of the wolf. Basically, mostly about love and suspicion.. Who is the werewolf responsible for the murders in the village?

Sucker Punch, despite what the title tells you, is regarding asylum life — the 5 girls are not actually mad, just ended up there for various reasons, and their collaborative plan to escape the asylum, however the plot also focuses slightly on the lead actress‘ drifting into an imaginary world to “create” her dance (the girls in the asylum are actually used for performance onstage to earn money).

RRH was great! Although the main actress wasn’t THAT pretty (I guess her mother was the beautiful one!!) and had a look of pain/guilt about her, I guess what promoted the movie was the lead guy, a somewhat “Edward Cullenlook-alike! Exciting mystery to be solved !!

Similarly, the lead actress in SP had a look of guilt/embarrassment about her, and a bit too innocent. When I saw the trailer while waiting for RRH, I thought the costumes a bit too weird, like Sailormoon copycat stuff. However, what I liked was the sisterly union. The 2 blonde sisters in the movie brought out most of the excitement. Goku’s love interest in Dragonball Evolution also appeared in the movie as one of the team.

Another boring moodless day. Decided to go for a midnight movie to kill the boredom.
